Torn by Amanda Hocking

Genre:  YA Paranormal Fantasy
Trylle Trilogy, Book 2

Description (taken from Amanda Hocking's website):
When Wendy Everly first discovers the truth about herself—that she’s a changeling switched at birth—she knows her life will never be the same. Now she’s about to learn that there’s more to the story…

She shares a closer connection to her Vittra rivals than she ever imagined—and they’ll stop at nothing to lure her to their side. With the threat of war looming, her only hope of saving the Trylle is to marry a powerful royal. But that means walking away from Finn, her handsome bodyguard who’s strictly off limits…and Loki, a Vittra prince with whom she shares a growing attraction.

Torn between her heart and her people, between love and duty, Wendy must decide her fate. If she makes the wrong choice, she could lose everything, and everybody, she’s ever wanted…in both worlds.

I remember reading the first book in this series and being completely entranced with Wendy's world of trolls.  And I loved the romance between Finn and Wendy.  But after picking this series up a year later, I wonder what happened.  Finn's an ass (excuse my language).

In this novel, we finally figure out who the Vittra are.  And Wendy has come to grips with her Trylle heritage.  And while she's still fighting for the ones she loves, she's more accepting of her future role in the world of Trylle.  I mean, who wouldn't want to be a princess?  But she's having a slight fallout with Finn and meeting a new guy named Loki.  Will Loki bring a mess with him, or will he help free her from her duties?

Honestly, the first book was more about world setting and setting up the characters.  This book seemed to be all about Wendy, and her accepting her new life.  And while I found her to be extremely annoying at times, I feel like she just let duty take over her life a little too easily.  And I don't think I like Finn anymore.  I can't discuss him without wanting to throw rocks at him.

I will plan on finishing this series.  But I'm really hoping to see the supporting characters shine.  I'm kind of sick of the "will Wendy stay and be queen or will she run?" question.
